The first rough gemstone was aquamarine. I proposed to the client two different version of the stone: the first is the usual colored pencils illustration; the second is a different support, Pastelmat paper and soft colored pencils.
The result was equally realistic, but the traditional colored pencils are able to be much precise with the details.
After a long meditative period of time, the client has chosen the traditional illustration, because of the realization timing and the minor cost of the materials involved ;)
